Dave Crandall Ministries
This is a website I recently designed for my dad. His old site (which I build when I was about 13) was done almost entirely in flash. At the time, the look was quite popular. However it lacked the ability to allow my dad to update his own site with his performance schedule and other news. So, I revamped his site completely.
I used Joomla! as the CMS, and OpenCart for his new online store. I tweaked Joomla!'s backend a bit to make it a bit more user friendly. The design of the site had 2 goals: simplicity and functionality. With that in mind, I focused on a simple color scheme, mild jQuery for various image slide shows, etc, and a mild gradient background to allow the content to "pop out."
I also added a music player from his ReverbNation account that plays automatically on the first page.
